Introduction to Darwin - Beach
The intimate harbour of Darwin, Australia, and its several surrounding beaches are among the most popular gathering places for both locals and visitors to the Northern Territory's capital. The resort and casino at Mindil Beach is just one of many Darwin Beach hotels visitors can choose from during their stay here. Mindil Beach is the closest to the city centre, just two kilometrers away, and a multicultural outdoor market takes place here each Thursday evening during the May to October dry season. The gently curving Vestey's Beach, located on Bullocky Point's north side, is home to the city's sailing and power boating clubs. A stinger net protects part of Nightcliff Beach, on Beagle Gulf's northern side, from the deadly sea creatures. Walkers and cyclists alike enjoy the view from Nightcliff Beach's 20kms-long pathway. Ruins from old seawater baths lie among the stones at Lammeroo Beach, one of the city's oldest coves. Clothing is strictly optional along a seven-kilometre stretch of Casaurina Beach, where the Dripstone Cliffs provide a colourful backdrop.Visit our Darwin Travel Guide
