The New South Wales town of Dalmeny’s pride and joy is Brou Beach, a lovely curving strand of soft yellow sand washed clean by the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. The mostly residential town itself sits on headlands overlooking the ocean to the south and the coastal lagoon of Lake Mumumga to the north. A small beachside shopping complex, a few Dalmeny hotels, a local restaurant and a bowling club join with walking and hiking trails along the coast and into the interior to make a peaceful base for a relaxing holiday. Brou Beach is great for body-boarding, surfing and swimming, and is patrolled by lifeguards in summer. It is a part of Eurobodella National Park. Nearby Yabbarra Beach on Dalmeny’s eastern side is rockier and has no lifeguards, but much stronger waves for experienced surfers. More beaches are found a few kilometres away at Mystery Bay and in Narooma and Kianga.
