Introduction to Canberra - Kingston
Kingston is regarded as the oldest suburb in the Australian capital, Canberra. Nowadays, it has become one of the city's most exclusive districts, having evolved into an area well-known for its cafe society. Kingston hotels are most convenient for those travelling by train, given that Canberra Station is located here. Travellers can use the twice-daily NSW Countrylink service which departs from Sydney. It's much quicker to get here by road, but this four-hour train ride should not be discounted due to the breathtaking scenery that can be seen on the way. The station is about 30 minutes' walk from the waterside attractions at Lake Burley Griffin, but the suburb does have a couple of attractions of its own. One of Canberra's oldest shopping centres is located here, Kingston Shopping Centre. In addition, the Old Bus Depot Markets are held here every Sunday, offering tourists the chance to purchase local handicrafts and assorted foodstuffs. Kingston is also highly-regarded for its lively nightlife scene.Visit our Canberra Travel Guide
