Introduction to Caloundra - Buddina
Home to the biggest shopping centre on the Sunshine Coast, Buddina is a laid-back suburb of nearly 4,000 residents. It is located around 14kms from Caloundra and 16kms from Sunshine Coast Airport, the gateway to the region. Life in Buddina centres on Kawana Shoppingworld, featuring more than 100 retail outlets. It is located between the Coral Sea beach areas, which host many Buddina hotels, and the western canal-side districts. Like much of the Sunshine Coast, the beaches here are most popular with visiting surfers. They are thought to be as safe as any in the region thanks to the resident Kawana Waters Surf Lifesaving Club. The shopping centre is considered to be the heart of the Kawana urban area, which is home to a busy bus interchange. Buses to Landsborough and Nambour allow visitors to access Brisbane's Citytrain network. Unsurprisingly, many of the suburb's eateries are located in the shopping centre, but there is also a Chinese restaurant, an Italian restaurant and a bakery in the streets surrounding it.
