Introduction to Bundaberg - City Centre
Bundaberg, the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, is a city of over 70,000 inhabitants, approximately 385kms north of Brisbane in the Australian state of Queensland. The city is known for its sugar industry as well as its production of Bundaberg Rum. While many drive straight past on the famous east coast of Australia backpacking trail, it is worth stopping off in for a day or two. The Burnett River flows just north of the centre and the famous rum distillery sits just beside the river. Tours of the distillery are popular and visitors can learn the history of rum production in the area as well as enjoy some free samples. Right in the heart of town is Baldwin Swamp, a mixture of green grassland, vine forests and water lily-filled lagoons. The area offers an abundance of wildlife, including black swans, parrots and reptiles, as well as some excellent walking trails. There is a wide range of Bundaberg City Centre hotels and various other forms of accommodation to choose from. The nightlife tends to be vibrant most nights, with numerous pubs and restaurants.other spellings: bundaberghotel city, bundabeg hotell center, bundaburg city, hote in bundabergh
