Introduction to Brisbane, Australia
Brisbane, located in the centre of the east coast of Australia, is one of the nation's biggest cities as well as the capital of the state of Queensland.

The city centre is 20kms from the South Pacific coast and mostly contained inside a horseshoe bend of the River Brisbane.

A diverse choice of Brisbane hotels is available in the centre.

Queen Street is the principal thoroughfare, where shops, cafes and eateries which serve eclectic ethnic cuisines line the road.

The Conrad Treasury Casino is close to the south end and is housed in an impressive building which dates from the 1880s.

Other city centre draws include St Stephen's Cathedral and the MacArthur Museum, home to exhibits and artefacts depicting Brisbane's WWII role.

On the north side of the centre, the Fortitude Valley is the city nightlife hub and contains bars, nightclubs and Chinatown.

Crossing the river leads to the South Bank Parklands where draws such as the Wheel of Brisbane and the manmade Streets Beach are found.

Getting between river sites can be achieved via the fast and fun CityCat ferry.
