Close to the eastern coast within the Australian state of Victoria, Bright is a small town famous for its colourful autumns.
After the summer, in March, the many European trees planted here turn a range of reds and yellows, an event which marks the end of the busy tourism season.
In the summer, the town is hugely popular due to its proximity to Mount Buffalo National Park, a 1,800-metre plateau, and the wider Victorian Alps which dominate the geography of the area.
Within easy driving distance is Mount Bogong, the tallest mountain in the area at just under 2,000-metres high and one of the highest in the whole of the country.
Backcountry skiing is possible here during the winter, in June and July.
Given the popularity of the area, there are unsurprisingly a large number of Bright hotels clustered together in the town centre on the main Gavam Street, close to Centenary Park.
