Introduction to Bridgetown, Australia
Bridgetown, a town of around 2,300 inhabitants, is located towards the southwest of Western Australia, roughly 270kms from Perth. The town's main source of economy comes from agriculture rather than tourism, although there are a few attractions for visitors which are well worth seeing. Brierley Jigsaw Gallery features hundreds of jigsaws and is said to be the best of such collections in the Southern Hemisphere. Among the displays are jigsaws of classic art and famous landmarks as well as the smallest wooden jigsaw in the world. Bridgetown Pottery Tearooms & Gallery is a nice, family-run business which features locally manufactured Bohemian woodcraft, locally crafted pottery and various exhibitions of fine art. The homemade food served up here is incredibly tasty. Those in the mood for an afternoon tipple may want to head to the award-winning Cidery, where ciders and juice are produced from locally sourced apples. The wine here is made with locally grown grapes. Bridgetown hotels and other kinds of accommodation are located throughout the town.
