Introduction to Ballarat, Australia
Located 65 miles northwest of Melbourne is Ballarat. The large city was once a famous gold mining town, and is now frequented by tourists from all over the world. Due to its popularity as a tourist hotspot there are many hotels in Ballarat to choose from, most of which are situated within close proximity to the city’s attractions. The centre boasts historical theatres, Ballarat Fine Art Gallery and several shops selling antiques, clothing and gifts, among other attractions. There is no better place to discover the gold mining past of the city than at Sovereign Hill, a Disneyland-like recreation of a 1850s gold mining town where kids can pan for gold. Deeper historical insight of the boom era can be gained at the Gold Museum. For relaxation, visitors can admire the flora on show at the Botanical Gardens or the lovely scenery surrounding Lake Wendouree. Antique and craft shopping is also possible.other spellings: ballarat otel, balarat hotell, ballaret hote, ballarathotels, bollarat hotle, balrat
