Introduction to Ballarat - Alfredton
Alfredton is a suburb of nearly 6,000 people, located around three miles to the west of Ballarat, Victoria. This city is 65 miles from Melbourne and most well-known for its gold-mining history. More than two million people enjoy discovering the city's heritage each year, so Alfredton hotels play a vital role in ensuring that there is always sufficient accommodation in the city. Most of the suburb's residents have their own vehicle but it is also accessible by train; Wendouree Station is just a couple of miles to the north. The suburb is home to the Avenue of Honour, an 11 mile-long WWI memorial whose entrance is marked by the Arch of Victory. Most of the area's shops and restaurants can be found on this road (Sturt Street). Golfers staying here have the opportunity to visit Ballarat Golf Club, located on Sturt Street, next to the Prince of Wales Recreation Reserve. The suburb also has its own centrally-located park too. Alfredton Recreation Reserve offers sporting opportunities to both residents and visitors. Located to the south of Cuthberts Road, it also hosts Ballarat Football Club.
