Things to do in Maldives
Maldives - relax on stunning beaches
The Maldives are renowned for their miles and miles of stunning beaches and tranquil coves, where romantic couples can find privacy and beaches that provide all the fun you can hope to find. No holiday to the Maldives would be complete without a relaxing time on the sand and a swim in the truely, beautiful clear blue waters. No matter what your age there is something here for everyone to enjoy and families can be assured of a great time.
Maldives - explore the National Museum
In order to maintain a record of the history of the Maldives and to install a sense of patriotic pride the National Museum was opened in 1952. Located in the Sultan’s Palace on Male, the museum hosts a wide collection of historical items including exoctic clothing of the Sultans as well as ornaments from their palaces. Also on display are items from before the time that the Maldives became a Muslim country.
Maldives - take a submarine trip to view coral reef
There are not many places in the world where you can take a submarine for a trip underwater, but the Maldives is one of them. An underwater vehicle allows you the opportunity to visit the undersea world without getting wet. View the coral reef and its many, colourful inhabitants through large glass windows and then move down to depths of up to 40 metres where sometimes you can see shipwrecks and sharks. For an exceptional but eerie experience take the night trip and see a whole new world that suddenly appears from nowhere.
Maldives - enjoy a wide choice of water sports
Above or below the water the Maldives offer a wide assortment of water sports, from the energetic to the relaxed. Whether you enjoy game fishing, snorkelling, water skiing or diving you will not be disappointed with what the Maldives provides, all at a very high standard. Younger members of the family can be entertained with simple sports like banana riding or fun tubes, whilst adults can enjoy sailing and jet skis.
Introduction to Maldives
One of the most exclusive and exotic island archipelagos in the world, the Maldives appeals to several kinds of travellers, notably honeymooners, surfers and scuba divers.

Most travellers get here by flying to Male International Airport, located next to the capital city, in the Kaafu group of islands.

Many new arrivals spend a night in the capital before transferring to their resort.

There are a number of Islamic places of interest in the city as well as some traditional markets.

However, most of the island's exclusive resorts can be found on private islands offshore.

To the west of Kaafu, the Ari group of islands are the second-most visited, accessible by seaplane from Male.

Ari resorts mainly cater to divers, with a number of dive outfits based on both North and South Ari.

In the far south, Seenu Atoll is also accessible by air from Male.

Maldives hotels are known for their luxuriousness, while the beaches are world famous as being some of the most idyllic on the planet.
