Introduction to Mondulkiri, Cambodia
In eastern Cambodia along the Vietnam border, tourists can discover the untouched splendour of Mondulkiri Province. The largest and most sparsely populated region of Cambodia is filled with magnificent waterfalls and lush forests of pine, containing some of the world's rarest plant and wildlife. Bou Sra Waterfall is the tallest in the area, followed by Dak Dam and Kbal Prah Falls. Much of the land here is protected within wildlife sanctuaries and a national park, leaving Mondulkiri with great potential for ecotourism. Ethnic minorities make up most of the population, most prominently the Bunong (Phnong), providing visitors with a diverse look at the country's people as they survey the area's scattering of villages. The capital city of Sen Monorom has grown with tourism in recent years, making it easy for tourists to trek or explore on safari from Mondulkiri hotels.
