Things to do in Cambodia
Phnom Penh - go to the sobering killing fields (Choeung Ek)
The Killing Fields at Choeung Ek are the site of one of the most horrific mass murder sites in Cambodia during the Pol Pot regime with an estimated 20,000 bodies buried here but no one will every be certain as new bone fragments or bodies are found every day when it rains. This is a place to go to reflect on the brutality of humanity but it is not for the squeamish or young people.
Siem Reap - marvel at Angkor Wat
There is so much to see in and around Seam Reap that you can easily spend a week here but a must visit location is Angkor Wat. The Wat is still rated as the world’s largest religious building having been built in the 12th century over a period of 30 years and been dedicated originally to Vishnu and then later as a Buddhist temple. It has been a centre of active worship continuously for over 800 years and is the most visited tourist site in the country.
Siem Reap - visit the Cambodia landmine museum
The Cambodian Landmine Museum was opened in its current format in 2007 but was started 10 years earlier by a former Khmer Rouge child soldier called Aki Ra who use to work with the UN bomb disposal unit. His work is ongoing and a visit to the museum helps highlight the problems that discriminatory use of landmines has had on the general population.
Sihanoukville - experience the watersports including fishing, diving, sailing and kayaking
Sihanoukville is the fastest growing city in Cambodia and is the country’s only deep water port. Despite this is still has excellent beaches and offers some of the best water sport opportunities in the region at reasonable prices. Everything from snorkeling and fishing to kayaking and diving are available and divers have the opportunity to dive both on pristine coral reefs and recent warship wrecks. The region as also the location for the last official battle by the US army in the Vietnam War.
Introduction to Cambodia
Cambodia is already reasonably well established as a backpacker destination and city's such as Siem Reap are beginning to offer decent facilities for package tourists.

The country is still fairly underdeveloped however and all visitors need to be aware of some basic concerns with regards to health and safety.
