Introduction to Yerevan, Armenia
Yerevan is the capital of Armenia and home to more than one million residents. Most tourists who visit the city stay in central Yerevan. Here, visitors can enjoy a variety of Soviet architecture, as well as parks and city squares. There are also plenty of restaurants and other entertainment options available to guests, too. The Opera is considered to be the most elegant part of the city, hosting the Opera House and Freedom Square. Most of the city centre is easy to cover on foot, while outlying districts can be reached by using the city's efficient metro system. However, guests should have little need to leave the centre, as the rest of the city is mostly residential. Visitors can get to the city by flying to Zvarnots International Airport, around 10 miles away. Alternatively, travellers coming from Georgia can take an overnight train from Tbilisi. Hotels in Yerevan are widely available but often expensive.
