Introduction to Puerto Iguazu - City Centre
Few of Argentina's attractions receive more visitors than the magnificent Iguazu Falls, and no city lies closer to this breathtaking natural landmark than Puerto Iguazu. The city lies in Argentina's most northeastern corner, just a short distance from where Argentina meets Brazil and Paraguay in a corner called Three Frontiers. Puerto Iguazu City Centre hotels are the community's biggest employers, and one of the city's most luxurious accommodations contains a spa complex and one of Latin America's most spectacular casinos. Aside from its numerous duty-free shops and booths selling handmade crafts, the city centre also features museums. Puerto Iguazu contains an eco museum, a national park museum in its port, and a forest images museum exhibiting traditional wooden carvings. However, the city's most unusual attraction may be the Aripuca Tourist Complex, which is named after and is a large replica of a traditional bird catching device. The Aripuca Tourist Complex was constructed from rescued tree trunks and visitors can even adopt native trees over 10 years old here. Puerto Iguazu, the Paraguayan city of Ciudad del Este and the Brazilian community of Foz do Iguaçu all belong to the Iguazu International Tourism Zone.
