Introduction to Bariloche - Rio Negro
Located along the Argentina-Chile border is the resort city of Bariloche in the province of Rio Negro. Located at the foot of the Andes Mountains, the city is also known as San Carlos de Bariloche. It is a popular destination for Europeans as well as locals. Visitors can enjoy year-round activities, skiing in winter and water sports, beaches and hiking in the summer. However, the area is most famous for its ski slopes, with Cerro Catedral being the most popular. Because of this, there is a plentiful choice of Rio Negro hotels in the city centre. The city is situated on the beautiful Lake Nahuel Huapi. The water in the lake is cold, even during the summer months, as it is fed by melting snow from the nearby mountains. The Nahuel Huapi National Park is Argentina's oldest national park and one of the most popular destinations for locals.
