Things to do in Antigua
Bolans - explore the shops and dine at Jolly Harbour
Antigua has everything that you could want for a Caribbean holiday and staying in or around Jolly Harbour is one of the best areas. Stroll around the marina and look at the multi million dollar yachts and then browse in the many shops selecting local handicrafts. Take your pick of the restaurants and enjoy the culture and cuisine of the region.
Saint John's - climb the ruins of Fort Barrington and admire the view
The port of St John’s harbour was once protected by Fort Barrington at the southern end over looking Deep Bay. The fort, originally built in 1780 has fallen into ruin but there is still plenty to see here including the old dungeons and powder room. The view over the bay and surrounding areas are stunning and worth the trip but it is recommended you go with a local guide.
Saint John's - enjoy the views from Redcliffe Quay
Where once people bought sugar, rum and slaves you can now purchase local handicrafts and textiles in the beautiful converted Georgian buildings. One of these was once a sugar factory but is now a collection of shops including pottery and paintings. Once you have had enough of shopping relax in one of the many restaurants and bars in the area sipping a rum cocktail or sampling local cuisine.
Saint Philip - go snorkelling or kayaking along the coastline
There is no better way of getting to see the scenery of the region than from water level in a kayak on an organized tour. See bays and beaches from a different viewpoint and take a hike up some of the hills and look down over the beautiful blue waters. Cool down in the beautiful waters by snorkeling and watching the corals and fish below.
